Up for sale is this unique vintage kukri /knife with original leather covered wood scabbard. The curved blade measures 14-1/2 in length and is curved. The edge is very sharp.
The overall length of this knife is 18-3/4. The blade is gray with six tiny nicks, "nail catchers". It features a long pierced/chiseled foliage panel for most of the blade's length containing many soft metal inlaid "dots". The grip is made from one piece of polished exotic wood.
There are several chips in the pommel. The grip is tight to the blade. The leather covered wood scabbard is in poor used condition. It has a small leather pouch in one of the side pockets and (8) other pockets for side knives, sharpening steel, eating utensils, etc.None of which came with the knife. There have been numerous substantiated accounts of the deadly effectiveness of the chopping capability of the kukri in combat. There have been instances when a Gurkha split an opponents skull and cut down into his chest with a single blow! It dates from the 1800's to the early 1900's. This piece is part of an edged weapon collection that was recently acquired.
